BOSE Soundlink Revolve & Revolve+ launched starting at AED799

We’ve always been told how to set up speakers for optimum sound fidelity. You’ve got to have it positioned such that one or multiple speakers keep you in the sweet spot of single directional sound. That’s changing with BOSE’s new speakers the SoundLink Revolve and Revolve+ starting at AED799.

Omni directional sound has been attempted before with sound bars that try to mimic sound coming from one point to surround and fill a room with sound. A trick that has worked in sound bars and some Home theatre sound systems. They were often lacking and were in need of manual tweaking. Turns out there is a better solution and it involves keeping the speaker in the center of the party.

These speakers are shaped like a cylinder and they output sound all around them equally in Omni direction. The Bose Revolve is a 6″ (15.24 cm) high and 3.25″ (8.25 cm) that weighs at 680 grams. It gets 12 hours of battery. The bigger Revolve+ with a bigger speaker system is 7.25″ (18.4 cm) high and 4″ (10.16 cm) deep system that weighs 910 grams. The Revolve+ gets 16 hours of playtime.

The main difference between the Revolve and the Revolve+ is the sound level, battery life and the physical handle present in the bigger Revolve+. You can connect either one of the speakers with each other for louder stereo sound and/or control them with the app on iOS or Android.

The Bose Revolve are new Bluetooth speakers with an entirely new acoustic design enclosed in an aluminium design. They come in two sizes and the larger Revolve+ even has a lantern like handle. If you pay attention, you might see the resemblance to the Amazon Echo. While they don’t have any voice-assistance inside of them, it has a similar microphone array to capture your voice.

An entirely new acoustic package was developed first, then matched with the cylindrical shape into a single piece aluminium enclosure. There is no “front” or “back” because the new Bose speakers don’t have to be pointed in any specific direction. They combine dual-opposing passive-radiators with a powerful, ultra efficient transducer that is positioned face down along with a new patented acoustic deflector. Bose even added a new “pressure-trap” to eliminate distortion that actually does what its supposed to do even on high volume levels. The sound radiates uniformly for the most part and is loud enough to fill any normal to living room sized room.

The new Bose Revolve also features an IPX4 rating to withstand spills, rain and water pool splashes. You don’t want to take this speaker under water however it can very well stay near by. There is even a tripod screw mount at the bottom to easily attach it to many tripods and other stand accessories already out there.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve and Revolve+ retail for AED799 and AED1199 respectively. They are available today at any BOSE stores or retail outlets in the UAE. For AED799 they sound really good and offer good battery life and are waterproof. Its just too bad they don’t have Alexa or Google Assistance on them.
