Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ hit the Middle East
We were present at Samsung’s #UnboxYourPhone in New York City for the global reveal of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, along with some hands-on time as well. To squeeze out more details on release dates and availability, Samsung Middle East invited us to an exclusive gathering and we jumped at the opportunity. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be available for AED 2,799 while the Galaxy S8+ will be available for AED 3,099.
The Fine Details
As we previously covered the internal specifications for both devices, we discovered additional details for some of them.
Courtesy of the new Infinity Display, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ becomes the first smartphone to be officially certified with Mobile HDR Premium.
Bixby is also coming to the Middle East region, but no word yet on whether Arabic language support will be available. Turning the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ into your desktop companion will also be easy, as the Samsung Dex will also be coming to the region.
The all-new Gear 360 camera is also coming to the region, so expect a price drop for the older model. The new updated model has an updated physical look, and can now capture in 4K along with live broadcasting features.
Where can you get one and for how much?
Every purchase of either the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ comes with some special perks for added value: major discounts on flight tickets and discounts for hotel bookings. There’s been no word yet on whether these are exclusive only for the UAE or will be available across the region as a unified value-added offering. The Samsung DeX dock will be priced at AED 599, with similar pricing across the region.
Pre-orders are already live across major retail outlets and telecom operators in the UAE. Sharaf DG in Qatar has set-up online pre-orders and offline preorders at their Mall of Qatar and Ezdan Mall outlets. In addition, Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar have already rolled out their pre-order plans as well. One thing that unites these three is that they have given delivery/pick-up dates near the end of April.
