LinkedIn 500M milestone is a boon for the Middle East region
Every individual across the world is looking to take their next career step, and LinkedIn is the one place where any individual would invest their time and painstaking effort to polish it up for their best look. Now, the platform has a new milestone to celebrate – LinkedIn has hit the 500 million members milestone across 200 countries and 22 million members in the MENA region.
For the Middle East along, LinkedIn’s UAE members rank as the most connected in the world with UAE users have a reported average of 211 connections per individual. That’s quite a big feat showing the importance of the GCC region from the overall MENA region. UAE residents are not only well connected, but also savvy to the potential of a highly connected global community of professionals and the value that is created. Saudi Arabia and Qatar do round-up the top of the MENA user rankings.
“A large majority of the UAE’s workforce has come from abroad – LinkedIn makes it easy for professionals seeking to connect with each other around the world, and to keep up to date with relevant companies and industry topics, wherever the market.” – Ali Matar, Head of LinkedIn Talent Solutions, Emerging Markets, Middle East and North Africa.
LinkedIn opened their first regional office in Dubai in 2012 to oversee the MENA region for their members and customers. This was followed by the official launch of an Arabic interface for users in 2015, which may have greatly helped in driving new members and more active usage across the region. LinkedIn released the UAE Power Profiles list in January 2017, celebrating the UAE professionals who understood the importance of investing in their online personal brand and growing their employer’s brand by becoming its ambassadors.
With 3M+ members in the UAE and Saudi Arabia just behind them by a shy 300K users, it’s clear that the Middle east region will help shape the talent pool for the years to come. 22M+ members spanning the MENA region, LinkedIn is growing rapidly.
