LG’s true flagship V20 launches, starting in UAE for AED2699
LG’s other flagship – the V series launched last year as the Kevlar version of the G series. Robust housing, improved features and a bit of extra things you may not need all made the V series the actual flagship that LG made after learning from their G series. Today LG announced that the V20 launched in the UAE with more GCC countries in the pipeline.
So, what did LG learn from the G5? On one hand, out with its modular features, but keep the amazing dual-camera setup. The camera has LG’s Steady Record 2.0 image stabilization. It has the same Snapdragon 820 processor (not the new 821). Another improvement to the V20 is audio.
Great Audio features
The V20 has multiple microphones to record well in large places and has an in-built Hi-Fi Quad DAC. This means you’ll be able to record using 24 bit / 48 kHz Linear Pulse Code Modulation format that is used professionally. This HD Audio Recorder uses the V20’s three high Acoustic Overload Point (AOP) microphones. The V20 ‘s speakers are branded Bang & Olufsen, the only audio company that made a mod for the LG G5 at launch earlier this year.
“Today’s mobile phone industry has been more competitive than it could ever be as the number of tech-savvy consumers has grown immensely over the years,” said Mr. Yong Geun Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf. “The V series was developed with the modern-day consumer in mind to not only adapt to unique audience personalities and lifestyles but to also be a few steps ahead of the game and exceed expectations,” Choi added.
The V20 has a 5.7 inch QHD display with second screen and dual rear camera with 135° wide-angle lens. Its one of the very few early devices that have Android 7.0 – the latest and greatest version of Android today. LG’s displays have always been great to look at but I do talk about some issues in the G5.
The camera on the back is very similar – if not same to that of the G5 which is a great to say the least- a normal and a wide-angle lens. This time the front facing camera has a 120-degree lens for wider selfies that gets everyone in the shot.
Military standard durability MIL-STD 810G
Technical differences end there but what sets the V20 apart from others is the build quality. Like the V10 the V20 uses a strong AL6013 aluminum alloy while at the top and bottom contact points are reinforced with Silicone Polycarbonate. That’s basically at a US Military standard for drop tests at MIL-STD 810G.
Another visual difference and perhaps even ergonomically is the second screen on the top right of the phone. This second screen now has wallpaper features and once set up can be very useful as we saw with the V10 earlier.
The LG V20 is now available at Sharaf DG and Al-Yousuf showrooms across the UAE including the LG Store in Dubai Mall for a price of AED2699 in either Silver or Titan. Other GCC countries will follow shortly. We will get back to you once we know about that.
