Huawei launches the MateBook in UAE
After previewing it at Dubai Design Week, Huawei has launched the new MateBook in UAE. The tablet/laptop hybrid device will be available at select retail outlets with pricing starting at AED 2,999.
The device features a 6th Generation Intel Core m-series processor, a 12-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2160×1440, up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. Huawei is also claiming a battery life of nine hours of usage, although that does depend on your usage.
“The MateBook combines the best of mobile and computing, offering consumers here in the Middle East a device that meets all the needs of today’s on-the-go business environment.” – Mr. David Wang, Country Manager of Huawei Consumer Business Group in the UAE.
The Huawei MateBook features the same form factor that has become increasingly popular in the recent years. Just like the Surface Pro by Microsoft, the MateBook features a touchscreen-enabled laptop with a detachable keyboard and stylus input. In fact, the screen is capable of detecting 2,048 levels of sensitivity. Huawei partnered with three leading designers in UAE and showcased their work at the preview of the device at Dubai Design Week. The MateBook will come in two colours: grey and gold.
The device was first announced earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. With the launch of this device, Huawei joins the ranks of the brands developing tablet/laptop hybrids such as Microsoft, Dell, and Samsung.
