Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes to the Middle East

If the global reveal in New York City for the newest member of The Next Galaxy had already tipped you off, you won’t have to wait any longer. Samsung is bringing the new Galaxy Note 7 to the Middle East and it launches on August 19th. There’s always been a soft spot for phablets, and Samsung has taken the best of it the Galaxy S series and brought it to the Galaxy Note 7, skipping the 6. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will retail for AED2999 for the 64GB model with a complimentary 128 GB micro SD card. But the deals don’t end there.

‘Note’ the leap in changes

It seems Samsung is keen on continuing the tradition of the Note series. They launch it separate from the flagship S series and have features and capabilities unique to the Note series. Its a sell by Samsung to differentiate their both products. The Galaxy Note series has always been about bigger screen size and the S-Pen.

On Samsung’s 7th (or 6th) iteration, the Note 7 is a beautiful next step. Samsung wasn’t shy in giving a shout out to the progression the Note series ever since the first Note came out in 2011. The Note series has a loyal fan base and with the new features in the Note 7, they might have some more.

Iris

Samsung has gone even further with the new Note 7’s internals. If you thought that your fingers had a hard time being recognised by a fingerprint sensor, now you can use your eyes to unlock your phone with the built-in Iris Scanner (located next to the front facing camera). The feature works really well once you get to know how it thinks of scanning your eyes. It’s so quick that you may not even notice it. It works with spectacles but may not with sunglasses and colored contact lenses.

S-Pen

The S Pen gets a ‘touch’ of improvement, making it easier and more accurate to write on a touchscreen as if you’re using an actual pen. Its tip is slimmer and now wwaterproo, and accompanied with new features on the software side as well. You can translate, draw on lock, and make quick gifs on the spot. All Notes that you take with the S-Pen are now very conveniently placed in a new app aggregator: Notes.

USB Type-C

Samsung has made this their first phablet embracing USB-C for charging and transfer, which means better speeds and even better charging for this phablet. They even include a USB Type B to C adapter so all accessories of the previous Note series will continue to work with the Note 7. That’s really thoughtful of Samsung.

Screen & Battery

The screen is gorgeous on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Its a 5.7 inch screen that’s even narrower than the 5.2″ iPhone 6S Plus. Its curved on both sides that looks great in design but also adds to the good ergonomics of the device. The Back of the Note 7 is curved as well. Let’s not forget that the display also gets a bigger boost, as the screen now incorporated HDR technology from TVs to provide better colour contrasts for videos. Powering all that means a bigger battery, that gets a minor boost with a jump to a 3500 mAh capacity.

Waterproof

The Note 7 is finally waterproof completely. With an IP68 certification, both the Note and the S-Pen are waterproof. Perfect for Jacuzzi ideas.

Galaxy Note 7 vs S7

With the internal specs almost a mirror of the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, some pretty strong features from the Galaxy S7 line have transitioned to the bigger Galaxy Note 7:

  • IP68 certification for water and dust resistance
  • Dual SIM support with expandable external storage (up to 256 GB microSD)
  • 12MP dual-pixel camera sensei with f/1.8 aperture
  • Iris Scanner
  • S-Pen features: Notes, Lock Screen, Gif, Translate, etc
  • Vulcan API for amazing looking games

Since Samsung has been making a big push into 360 VR content, the new Galaxy Note 7 works with the newly updated Gear VR headset that can handle the bigger chassis.

Holiday Pack?

Details are pretty slim at the moment but every purchase of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the region will be eligible for a free holiday pack from Holiday Factory. on the basis of “Buy One Get One Free”. The packages are inclusive of round trip tickets, hotel accommodation, airport transfers and a dedicated tour guide- savings can be up to AED 5000 for UAE residents who can choose from exotic locations including Vienna, Prague, Seychelles and the Maldives.

The Entertainer Pack

The Samsung Galaxy Note S7 comes with over AED400,000 in savings with the Entertainer app. If you think that’s just a marketing feature, you should know that Samsung S7 users have already saved over AED 1 million with the Entertainer app on the S7. With the release of the Note 7, Samsung building on that offer with more.

Middle East Availability

UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait gets it first August 19 for AED2999

With all the improvements and feature additions, the Galaxy Note 7 will be hitting the retail shelves in a 64GB SKU starting from August 19 for a price of AED2999. That means UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain will get it first on August 19th. You’ll be able to buy them not only from your telecom’s retail outlets, but also from popular electronic chains. The Note 7 will be available in three of its four announced colors: Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.

Unfortunately, the new Blue Coral isn’t coming to the region as of yet. Traditionally, this color is limited to Samsung’s own market. However they are releasing this color in the US. We’d love to see Blue Coral as option for the region and there would be many who would prefer that one.

The Galaxy Note 7 is looking to focus on thinking big and being a phone that drives big ideas.
