Hands on with Platinum Samsung Gear S2 classic at #CES2016

Were looking at Samsung’s updated Gear S2, the gear S2 classic. As the name implies, this is a classier version of the Gear S2 from last year. It comes in two versions, Gold 18 Karat and Platinum.

Were looking at the platinum version and the leather strap looks premium. The Gear S2 Classic watch is still powered by Samsungs Tizenn OS. And its now Android wear. And Samsung has a different way to get apps. Samsung did annouce new apps like Uber available.

Notifications and Fitness are the same but its a good experience. The battery is still rated at 2-3 days.

The classic looks more like an actual watch version of the gear s2 and the internals havent really changed.
There is still NFC support and Samsung is rolling out Samsung Pay in some markets this year.

But the biggest news is the Gear S2 and S2 classic are finally getting iOS support coming next year. But we dont know when exactly.

The Gear S2 and the new S2 classic are still standard 20 mm.

While the Gear S2 is a nice comfortable watch, to a lot of people its just not something they will wear at all times.

Younghee Lee the Vice President of Global marketing at Samsung mobile said this is new standard in Gear watches. They want to raise the bar again in 2016 with the classic.
