Sharjah is the second emirate to get Google Street View in UAE
International giant Google made street view available for Sharjah and Ajman partially few days back in the streets of the emirates namely Al Khan, Al Wahda and Corniche Street for Sharjah and Al Muntazah Street, Shaikh Rashid bin Humeed, Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed and Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Street for Ajman .
The Sharjah Urban Planning Council has now announced that Google has completed the capturing of images throughout the Emirate.
Sharjah is now the second emirates in the region to get Google Street View in UAE.
Antony McLoughlin, Street View Programme Manager, for Google in Europe, Middle East and North Africa, said, “We have been expanding Street View across the UAE and hope to add additional imagery in the future. Street View is a great feature that benefits users and businesses; we’ve received excellent feedback wherever we’ve launched around the world.”
Dubai was the first emirates to get Google Street View back in 2013.
Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Urban Planning Council(SUPC), said: “We are very pleased with this achievement. At SUPC, we always seek to meet the needs of community members, providing for the emirate’s population and its business sector. This new service comes within the framework of efforts exerted by SUPC, aiming to facilitate the browsing and exploration of the prominent roads and landmarks of Sharjah. It is part of SUPC’s efforts to consolidate the status of Sharjah as an outstanding center of culture in our region. It will allow residents of and visitors to the emirate from all over the world an avenue to virtually roam about the diverse, spectacular landscape and extraordinary monuments in Sharjah.”
