Ooredoo Launches 150Mbps 4G Wireless Hotspot for Qatar

Ooredoo Qatar has just launched their first 150mbps 4G portable mobile hotspot in Qatar – which is essentially a customized Huawei E5776 MyFi.

Confirming that this is a Category 4 LTE device, the new Wireless Hotspot supports Ooredoo’s new 4G network, theoretically capable of 150 Mbps in certain locations.  In our tests, we got around 8 hours of usage and a lot more on standby, with speeds anywhere between 40 mbps and 135 mbps. Speeds over WiFi are limited to a maximum of 40-45mbps, while speeds connected via USB to a computer were consistently much higher.

The new MyFi costs QR 629 and has a bigger battery than the previous device. At 3,000 MAh, the device should last around 10 hours of usage, which is a huge step up from the earlier 3-4 hours. It will be available for purchase from the online shop and from retail stores.
