Samsung releases Galaxy Note 8.0 in the UAE
Samsung has announced the release and availability of the Galaxy Note 8.0 in the UAE. Following up on Galaxy Note 10.1, the Note 8.0 is their second release and is closer to their mobile phones than it is to their PCs (think of Samsung Tab). The device comes in two version – 3G + WiFi and WiFi only and can be purchased at leading retailers.
Apart from the portable and (relatively) lighter form factor, Samsung is touting the inclusion of S-Pen as a leading feature. No ordinary stylus, the S-Pen uses Wacom technology that allow for precise input. At a time where despite the wide availability of touchscreen devices many prefer paper and pen (source: ridiculously unscientific straw poll), the S-Pen may actually help bridge this gap slightly. In fact the Galaxy Note 8.0 borrows some features we’ve seen on other Samsung devices, such as Air View for previewing content such as photos, videos, emails and more. The device can also be used as a Smart Remote to manage control of all your devices including TV’s set-top boxes, DVD players and more. Samsung’s usual list of software suspects can be found here as well – the entire suite of S services including S Planner, S Note as well as Chat-On, Dual view and more.
As seems to be standard for Samsung now, there is no mention of Android in the press release and the emphasis lies on Samsung, TouchWiz and its bundled software. But for your benefit, we’ve got that it runs Android 4.1
Edit: The Note 8.0 has also released in Bahrain and Qatar. The rest of the markets will see the release in coming weeks.
