Qatar Launches First Angel Investment Network

Qatar’s firstAngel Investment Network, SILA, has just been announced at a press conference. SILA, which means “connection” in Arabic, is an initiative led by Silatech, which hopes to transform the startup ecosystem in Qatar by forging closer ties between potential investors and entrepreneurs.

For young entrepreneurs, Qatar can be a highly challenging market to launch a local startup, mainly due to funding limitations. SILA aims to grow the local startup sector into a vibrant enterprise, by helping startup entrepreneurs via education and awareness programs, organizing pitching events with angel investors, and funding opportunities to help launch potential startups.

SILA will launch on October 15, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel. The launch will cover a screening session, presentations, conversations between entrepreneurs and investors, and a networking dinner.
